The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has announced that export incentives will now be extended to postal shipments processed in electronic mode, effective January 15, 2026. The move is aimed at facilitating exporters, particularly small businesses and e-commerce operators, by streamlining procedures and ensuring faster benefit disbursal.
Officials stated that the initiative will integrate postal exports into the electronic data interchange system, enabling exporters to claim incentives under various government schemes with greater efficiency. The measure is expected to boost India’s export competitiveness and support the growing demand for cross-border e-commerce.
The CBIC emphasized that the extension of incentives to postal shipments reflects the government’s commitment to ease of doing business and digital transformation in trade facilitation. Exporters using postal channels will now have access to the same benefits as those shipping through courier and cargo modes.
Industry stakeholders welcomed the decision, noting that it will encourage wider participation in global trade and provide a significant boost to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) engaged in international markets.
