New Delhi, October 13: India and the Czech Republic have agreed to expand defence industrial cooperation to support the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The decision followed talks between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Czech First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The two leaders reviewed existing defence partnerships and welcomed the progress made by joint ventures. They agreed to build on this cooperation through the India-Czech Joint Defence Committee.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media, Singh said the discussions covered the full range of defence industrial cooperation. He expressed satisfaction with the performance of existing joint ventures and said both countries would work to expand collaboration in support of India’s self-reliance goals.
The talks build on a longstanding defence relationship. The two countries signed a defence cooperation agreement in October 2003, leading to the establishment of the Joint Defence Committee. Its most recent meeting was held in Prague on October 7, 2025, after a five-year gap, followed by an industry event bringing together Indian and Czech defence companies.
