Mumbai, November 5: Indian equity benchmarks rose sharply in early trade on Thursday, supported by lower crude oil prices, positive global cues and renewed foreign investor buying.
The Sensex gained more than 2 per cent, while the Nifty advanced about 1.7 per cent. The rise extended the market’s upward momentum into a sixth consecutive session.
Aviation, paint and oil-marketing stocks benefited from the decline in crude prices, while upstream oil producers faced pressure. Brent crude traded around $93 a barrel, helping improve sentiment towards oil-importing economies such as India.
