Indian airlines including Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet have issued travel advisories after Iran temporarily closed its airspace, cautioning passengers that some international flights may be impacted. The closure, which lasted several hours, disrupted global flight operations and forced rerouting of services bound for Europe and the United States.
Air India confirmed the cancellation of multiple US-bound flights, including services from Delhi and Mumbai to New York and Newark. The airline stated that rerouting of Europe-bound flights may lead to extended travel times and advised passengers to monitor updates through official channels.
IndiGo also reported disruptions on select international routes, particularly those connecting to Europe, Turkey, and CIS countries. The carrier assured passengers that alternative arrangements, including rebooking and refunds, are being facilitated.
SpiceJet issued a similar advisory, noting that while no cancellations had been reported, delays and rerouting could affect schedules. The airline urged passengers to check flight status before travel.
Officials highlighted that the closure of Iran’s airspace was linked to regional tensions, prompting precautionary measures by aviation authorities. Though the airspace has since reopened, airlines warned that residual delays and operational adjustments may continue in the short term.
Passengers have been advised to remain updated through airline websites, mobile apps, and customer service channels, as carriers work to minimize inconvenience and ensure safety.
