New Delhi: State Bank of India (SBI) has decided to waive certain ATM transaction charges for its customers during the proposed three-day nationwide bank strike from September 28 to 30.
The move is aimed at helping customers access cash without facing additional charges if they need to use another bank’s ATM during the strike period. SBI customers are expected to be able to make such withdrawals without the usual applicable charges covered under the temporary arrangement.
The nationwide strike has been called for September 28, 29 and 30. With the strike following the weekend, customers may have limited access to bank branches over several days.
SBI has asked customers to plan their banking requirements in advance and make greater use of digital services during the strike. Mobile banking, internet banking and UPI services can be used for many routine transactions, while ATMs will continue to provide cash withdrawal facilities.
Customers who need services that require a visit to a bank branch have been advised to complete them before the strike begins. The temporary ATM charge waiver is expected to provide some relief to customers who may need to withdraw cash from ATMs operated by other banks.
The bank has taken the step to ensure that customers have easier access to cash during the period when regular branch operations could be affected by the strike.
