New Delhi, Dec 02: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday described the renaming of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) as ‘Seva Teerth’ as a significant milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation. He said the move reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of governance rooted in service rather than power.
In a message, Shah noted that for the past 11 years the Modi government has been synonymous with service, with the Prime Minister considering himself a ‘Pradhan Sevak’ working for the people seven days a week. “By naming the PMO as Seva Teerth, the Prime Minister has reiterated his resolve for service and good governance,” he said.
Officials said the new PMO complex, constructed under the Central Vista redevelopment project, comprises three buildings for the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretariat, and the National Security Council Secretariat. The Cabinet Secretariat has already shifted to Seva Teerth-2.
Alongside the PMO, the government has also renamed Raj Bhavan and Raj Niwas as Lok Bhavan and Lok Niwas, underscoring the people-centric approach of the administration. Shah termed the changes an important milestone in the “golden journey” of building a developed India.
