Indian boxer Preeti Pawar stormed into the final of the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 after defeating Paris Olympics bronze medallist Aeji Im of Korea in a dominant 5-0 unanimous decision in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The 54kg semifinal saw Preeti outclass her opponent across all three rounds with a composed and clinical performance.
Preeti, a World Boxing Cup Finals gold medallist and Asian Games bronze medallist, showcased superior ring control and precision to secure one of India’s biggest wins of the tournament. She will now face Chinese Taipei’s Huang Hsiao-wen — a three‑time World Champion and Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist — in the title bout.
India enjoyed a strong day overall, with Priya and Arundhati Choudhary also advancing to their respective finals. However, seasoned boxers Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain exited after semifinal defeats, while Pooja Rani and Ankushita Boro settled for bronze medals.
