New Delhi, March 17: Special Secretary at the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), Rajesh Kumar Sinha, has confirmed that all Indian sailors and ships operating in the Gulf region are safe. He made the statement while addressing an Inter‑Ministerial Briefing on recent developments in West Asia.
Sinha informed that the government is closely monitoring the situation amid heightened regional tensions and is in constant touch with Indian seafarers and vessel operators. He added that 161 Indian sailors have been repatriated in the last 24 hours after signing off from various ships in the Gulf.
He also noted that the second LPG carrier, Nanda Devi, arrived at Kandla port early this morning, and cargo discharge operations are underway. The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Indian maritime personnel in the region.
