The Election Commission of India has deployed 22 additional roll observers across states undergoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The decision aims to strengthen monitoring and ensure transparency in the revision process ahead of upcoming polls.
Officials stated that the observers will oversee field-level verification, address complaints, and ensure compliance with guidelines issued by the Commission. Their role includes monitoring inclusion, deletion, and correction of voter details to maintain accuracy and fairness in the rolls.
The deployment comes as part of EC’s broader efforts to enhance credibility of the electoral process, particularly in states flagged for intensive scrutiny. The move underscores the Commission’s focus on accountability and voter confidence in the lead-up to elections.
