New Delhi, March 27: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, comprising 50 matches to be played across 12 cities. The phase will run from April 13 to May 24, setting the stage for the decisive run to the playoffs.
The opening clash of this phase will feature Sunrisers Hyderabad against Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad. The schedule includes eight double-headers, ensuring fans across the country get maximum cricketing action during the league stage.
Matches will be hosted in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Dharamsala, Raipur, and New Chandigarh. The spread of venues is aimed at engaging fans across regions and providing franchises with wider home support.
BCCI officials stated that playoff venues will be announced later, with preparations underway to ensure smooth conduct of matches. The second phase is expected to be crucial as teams battle for playoff qualification, with player rotation and fitness management likely to play a key role.
