Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said India has emerged as a hub for Global Capability Centers (GCCs), driven by its skilled and youthful workforce. He was speaking at the virtual inauguration of Airbus’s India Technology Centre in Bengaluru, which is the company’s second-largest digital hub outside Europe.
The Minister highlighted that the new Airbus campus, equipped with advanced engineering and innovation facilities, reflects India’s growing strength in global capability centers. He noted that GCCs are no longer limited to back-office operations but are now driving product engineering, digital innovation, and global strategy for multinational corporations.
India currently hosts more than 1,800 GCCs with nearly 3,000 delivery units, employing close to 2 million professionals and generating around USD 64 billion annually. Major hubs include Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR, while tier-II cities are increasingly attracting next-wave centers.
Ram Mohan Naidu emphasized that India’s talent pool, cost advantage, and strong presence in AI, analytics, and product engineering make it a preferred destination for global firms. He said the Airbus expansion is a milestone that reinforces India’s position as a GCC powerhouse.
