Pakistan and Iran have discussed measures to prevent further escalation of the West Asia conflict, reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and work towards an early end to hostilities.
The discussions took place during Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit to Tehran, where he met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior Iranian leaders. The talks focused on regional peace, de-escalation and possible avenues for a negotiated settlement.
Pakistan and Iran also discussed ways to restore safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital international shipping route. The Pakistani side has been seeking to facilitate dialogue and promote diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the discussions were constructive and that significant progress had been made. Both sides stressed the importance of regional stability and an early resolution to the conflict.
