Security forces reported multiple sightings of Pakistani drones along the Line of Control in Poonch and the International Border in Samba, Jammu & Kashmir, on January 15–16, 2026. Troops immediately opened fire and activated anti-drone systems to counter the incursions.
According to officials, drones were observed hovering in the Digwar sector of Poonch and near the Ramgarh sector of Samba. The incidents mark the third such intrusion within a week, prompting heightened alertness across forward areas.
The Army and Border Security Force intensified patrolling, deployed anti-UAS systems, and enhanced surveillance measures to prevent any attempts at smuggling arms, narcotics, or conducting reconnaissance. Security agencies suspect repeated cross-border drone activity as part of hostile tactics.
Authorities emphasized that the situation remains under close watch, with forces maintaining high alert along the LoC and International Border. The repeated sightings highlight emerging security challenges and the need for robust counter-drone measures in sensitive border regions.
