Nitish Kumar, President of the Janata Dal (United), is set to take oath as Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th term on November 20, 2025. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several senior leaders of the National Democratic Alliance in attendance.
The formation of the new NDA government follows the coalition’s decisive victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Nitish Kumar has recommended the dissolution of the outgoing assembly and will tender his resignation on November 19, before being re-elected as the legislature party leader.
This milestone marks Nitish Kumar’s third consecutive term and consolidates his position as Bihar’s longest-serving Chief Minister. Since first assuming office in 2005, he has been recognized for his governance style and political resilience.
