The body of a newly married man was recovered from a stream in Budgam district after an overnight search operation carried out by rescue teams and local authorities. The recovery brought a tragic end to efforts that began after the man reportedly went missing amid adverse weather conditions.
According to officials, the man was believed to have been swept away by the strong current while attempting to cross or move near the stream. Police, personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local volunteers launched an extensive search operation, which continued throughout the night despite difficult weather and terrain.
The body was eventually located and retrieved from the stream during the early hours of the following day. It was shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities before being handed over to the family for the last rites.
Police have initiated proceedings to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have once again urged people to stay away from rivers, streams, and other water bodies during periods of heavy rainfall, as rising water levels and strong currents can pose a serious risk to life.
