Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has underscored the critical role of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in strengthening India’s electoral democracy. He described BLOs as the foundational pillar of the electoral system, ensuring accuracy, transparency and inclusiveness in the voter registration process.
Speaking at an official review, Kumar highlighted that BLOs serve as the direct link between the Election Commission and citizens, facilitating voter outreach, verification and grievance redressal. He emphasized that their work is vital to maintaining credibility and trust in the electoral rolls.
The CEC noted that BLOs contribute significantly to the integrity of elections by ensuring that every eligible voter is included and that electoral rolls remain free from errors. He called for continued support and recognition of their efforts in safeguarding democratic processes.
Kumar’s remarks reaffirm the Election Commission’s focus on grassroots-level engagement and its commitment to strengthening the institutional framework of India’s democracy.
