Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh has called upon the private sector to step up its participation in research and development (R&D), stressing that industry-led innovation is vital for India’s future growth. Speaking at a national innovation forum, Dr Singh emphasized that India’s ambition to emerge as a global technology leader requires robust partnerships between government, academia, and industry. He urged private enterprises to play a proactive role in applied research, product development, and commercialization of new technologies.
The Minister highlighted that increased private sector involvement would enhance competitiveness, generate employment opportunities, and open access to global markets. He added that R&D-driven growth is critical for achieving self-reliance in key sectors such as healthcare, energy, and defense.
Dr Singh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting innovation through policy reforms, funding mechanisms, and infrastructure development. He encouraged industry leaders to align their efforts with national priorities, ensuring that India’s innovation ecosystem continues to expand and deliver transformative outcomes.
