New Delhi, October 10: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Saturday urged industry to help turn scientific discoveries into commercial products and expand India’s technological capabilities to meet the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Addressing the 121st Annual Session of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi, Singh called for closer cooperation between government, businesses, universities, research institutions and start-ups. He said these partnerships were essential for developing home-grown technologies that could compete internationally.
The minister emphasised that businesses should become involved when research projects begin. Early participation, he said, would help scientists understand market demand and give promising discoveries a clearer route from the laboratory to commercial use.
Singh pointed to opportunities emerging in space, biotechnology and quantum technologies. He said India needed to develop its own solutions rather than depend primarily on technologies created abroad.
He also encouraged greater private investment in research and development, highlighting the government’s Research, Development and Innovation initiative. Industry associations, he said, could help researchers find business partners and funding.
Singh said faster implementation and the ability to expand successful innovations would be crucial to India’s progress. He linked stronger domestic technological capabilities with economic growth, self-reliance and strategic sovereignty.
