Kuwait City: Kuwait said Friday its Mina Al-Ahmadi oil refinery was again hit by Iranian drones, sparking fires across several units. Firefighters were deployed to contain the blazes, and no immediate casualties were reported, according to the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
The refinery, which processes about 730,000 barrels of crude oil per day, had already been struck a day earlier, causing similar fires. The latest attack coincided with Eid al-Fitr celebrations, shocking residents and raising concerns about energy security.
Iran has escalated drone and missile strikes on Gulf energy infrastructure in recent days, targeting refineries in Kuwait and Qatar, in retaliation for Israeli attacks on its South Pars gas field. The conflict between Iran and Israel has now entered its third week, with fears mounting over regional stability and global oil supplies.
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said emergency teams were working to restore operations and assess damage. Officials stressed that contingency plans were in place to minimize disruption to exports, though the repeated strikes have heightened anxiety across the Gulf region.
