The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has announced revised school timings for all government and recognized private schools in the summer zone areas of Jammu Division. The new schedule will be effective from May 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026.
According to the order, schools will now function from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily. The directive applies to institutions up to the Higher Secondary level across all districts falling under the summer zone.
The adjustment has been made in view of rising temperatures during the summer months, ensuring the safety and comfort of students. Authorities emphasized that early timings will help reduce exposure to peak heat hours while maintaining academic productivity.
Deputy Commissioners, Chief Education Officers, and school heads have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the revised schedule. Any deviation from the order may invite action as per rules.
The DSEJ’s move is part of its annual practice of seasonal timing adjustments, aimed at safeguarding students and streamlining school operations during the summer season in Jammu Division.
