Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a six-day visit to five nations—United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy—beginning Friday, May 15, 2026. The tour is aimed at strengthening India’s strategic, economic, and technological partnerships across West Asia and Europe.
Modi’s first stop will be the UAE, where he will meet President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Discussions will focus on energy security, renewable cooperation, and welfare of the 4.5 million Indians living in the UAE.
In the Netherlands, Modi will hold talks with King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, and Prime Minister Rob Jetten. Key areas include defence, security, green hydrogen, semiconductors, and water management. Bilateral trade between India and the Netherlands stood at USD 27.8 billion in 2024–25.
During his Sweden visit, Modi will meet Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson in Gothenburg to deepen cooperation in innovation, startups, artificial intelligence, and green transition. The focus will be on building resilient supply chains and advancing climate-friendly industries.
In Norway, Modi will participate in the India–Nordic summit, engaging on renewable energy, blue economy, climate action, defence, and space collaboration. The summit is expected to reinforce India’s role in sustainable global development.
The final leg of the tour will be in Italy, where Modi will meet Italian leaders to strengthen ties in investment, defence, clean energy, and technology. Italy is a key European partner in India’s push for diversified trade and innovation-led growth.
This multi-nation visit comes amid global economic uncertainty and regional tensions in West Asia, with India seeking to secure energy supplies, attract investment, and expand its diplomatic footprint in Europe.
