Port Blair, November 12, 2025: Australia has joined India, Japan, and the United States in the latest edition of Exercise Malabar 2025, a major Quad naval drill aimed at enhancing maritime security and interoperability among the four nations. The exercise is being conducted in the Indian Ocean region, underscoring the strategic importance of Indo-Pacific cooperation.
The joint drill features advanced naval maneuvers, anti-submarine operations, and coordinated air-sea exercises designed to strengthen collective capabilities in safeguarding regional waters. Participating navies are deploying aircraft carriers, destroyers, submarines, and maritime patrol aircraft to simulate real-time scenarios and improve operational readiness.
Officials highlighted that Exercise Malabar 2025 reflects the growing synergy among Quad partners in addressing shared security challenges. The inclusion of Australia reinforces the group’s commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
“This exercise demonstrates the resolve of Quad nations to work together in promoting peace, stability, and maritime cooperation,” said a senior Indian Navy spokesperson. “It also provides an opportunity to exchange best practices and build stronger trust among partner navies.”
Exercise Malabar has evolved into one of the most significant multilateral naval engagements in the region, symbolizing the collective vision of Quad nations to ensure safe sea lanes and uphold international maritime norms.
