Zurich, December 30, 2025: FIFA has announced that it has received over 150 million ticket requests for the 2026 World Cup, marking the highest demand in the tournament’s history.
Officials confirmed that applications came from fans across more than 200 countries and regions, underscoring the global appeal of the expanded 48-team format.
The demand is estimated to be nearly 30 times higher than the number of tickets available, highlighting unprecedented interest in the event to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
FIFA stated that the Random Selection Draw process is underway, with successful applicants to be notified in due course. The organization emphasized that all revenues generated will be reinvested into football worldwide.
The 2026 World Cup will feature 104 matches across 16 host cities, running from June 11 to July 19, 2026. The record-breaking ticket requests reflect both the scale of the tournament and the growing popularity of football globally.
