Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, has confirmed that multi-layered security arrangements are in place across the Valley ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
Deployment includes heightened vigil at sensitive locations, intensified checking at entry and exit points, and round-the-clock patrolling in urban and rural areas. Security forces have set up joint control rooms to monitor real-time developments.
IGP Birdi stated that special focus is being given to Srinagar, district headquarters, and venues hosting official Independence Day functions. Drone surveillance and CCTV monitoring have been integrated into the security grid.
Authorities have also urged citizens to cooperate with security checks and remain vigilant, emphasizing that the arrangements are designed to ensure peaceful and smooth celebrations across Kashmir.
