President Droupadi Murmu has said that India and Cyprus have huge potential to collaborate in emerging sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and space technology. She made the remarks during a meeting with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides in New Delhi on May 23, 2026.
The President highlighted that both nations share strong historical ties and common democratic values, which provide a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in cutting-edge industries. She noted that India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, AI-driven innovation, and expanding space programme align well with Cyprus’s expertise and aspirations in technology and research.
Murmu emphasised that collaboration in these sectors would not only strengthen bilateral relations but also contribute to global technological advancement and resilience. She underlined the importance of joint research, skill development, and investment partnerships to harness opportunities in the digital and space economy.
President Christodoulides welcomed India’s initiatives and expressed Cyprus’s interest in deepening cooperation in technology, education, and innovation. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges as part of a forward-looking partnership.
The meeting also covered regional and global issues, with both sides agreeing to work closely in multilateral forums to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development.
