India has handed over the first batch of 61 vehicles to Nepal to support the upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections scheduled for February 2026. The vehicles were formally gifted to Nepal’s Election Commission in Kathmandu as part of India’s commitment to assist in strengthening democratic processes in the neighboring country.
Officials stated that the vehicles will be used for election logistics, including transportation of polling officials, security personnel, and materials across districts. The support is expected to enhance efficiency and preparedness for the large-scale electoral exercise.
The Government of India emphasized that the gesture reflects the close bilateral ties and its longstanding tradition of supporting Nepal’s democratic institutions. Nepalese authorities welcomed the assistance, noting that it will significantly ease operational challenges during the polls.
This marks the first installment of a larger consignment, with additional vehicles expected to be delivered in phases ahead of the elections.
