The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has launched the inaugural Under-17 Women’s Youth League, marking a significant step in promoting grassroots and youth development in women’s football across the country. The league is designed to provide young female players with structured competition and a pathway to higher levels of the sport.
AIFF officials stated that the initiative will help identify and nurture talent at an early age, ensuring a steady pipeline of players for national teams. The league will feature participation from academies, clubs, and state associations, with matches scheduled across multiple regions.
The Youth League is expected to enhance competitive exposure for players, improve technical standards, and encourage greater participation of girls in football. It also aligns with India’s broader vision of strengthening women’s football ahead of international tournaments.
AIFF President emphasized that the league reflects the federation’s commitment to gender equality in sports and the long-term growth of women’s football in India. He noted that structured youth competitions are essential for building a strong foundation for future success.
The launch of the Under-17 Women’s Youth League is seen as a milestone in India’s football development journey, offering young athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills and aspire to represent the country at the highest level.
