External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar affirmed that the India–Mauritius partnership has advanced remarkably, highlighting new agreements in energy, defence, and civil service training. He noted that the relationship has been elevated to an enhanced strategic level, reflecting deep trust and shared priorities between the two nations.
India is finalising a government-to-government agreement to supply oil and gas to Mauritius, strengthening its energy security amid disruptions caused by the West Asia crisis. In addition, India is supporting Mauritius’ first floating solar power project, underscoring cooperation in clean energy and sustainability.
On the defence front, India will soon deploy a Defence Attaché in Mauritius, enhancing military and strategic ties. In governance, the iGOT Karmayogi portal has been extended to Mauritian civil servants—the first time India has shared this platform with a partner country.
Dr. Jaishankar recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in March 2025, during which both governments agreed to elevate ties to an enhanced strategic partnership. He stressed that the partnership now spans energy, defence, governance, and technology, making it one of India’s most comprehensive bilateral relationships in the Indian Ocean region.
