Indian wrestlers will begin their campaign at the Asian Wrestling Championships 2026 in Bishkek today, with Olympic medallist Aman Sehrawat leading a 30‑member national squad. The contingent comprises 10 wrestlers each in men’s freestyle, Greco‑Roman and women’s categories, blending experienced names with emerging talent.
Aman Sehrawat, India’s youngest Olympic medallist, will compete in the men’s 61kg division. He enters the tournament as one of India’s strongest medal contenders, having previously won the Asian title in 2023 and a silver at the Zagreb Open earlier this year.
Other key wrestlers include Ankush in the 57kg category and U23 world champion Sujeet Kalkal in 65kg, both expected to bolster India’s medal hopes. In Greco‑Roman, Sunil Kumar will lead the squad in the 87kg division.
The women’s team features several changes, with Meenakshi Goyat replacing Antim Panghal and Manisha Bhanwala shifting to the 57kg category. India aims to improve on last year’s 10‑medal haul as the championships run from April 6 to 12 in Kyrgyzstan.
