India’s mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the BWF World Championships in New Delhi on Wednesday with a comfortable straight-game victory over Macau’s Leong Iok Chong and Ng Weng Chi.
The 15th-seeded Indian duo dominated the Round of 32 encounter, winning 21-11, 21-11 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. Kapila and Crasto controlled the proceedings from the outset and maintained their momentum to complete the match in straight games.
In the pre-quarterfinals, the Indian pair will face the sixth-seeded Chinese combination of Chen Fang Hui and Guo Xin Wa. The upcoming contest is expected to provide a tougher challenge as Kapila and Crasto look to continue their impressive run on home soil.
Their progress adds to India’s strong showing at the World Championships, with several Indian shuttlers also advancing in their respective events. The tournament is being held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, with India hosting the prestigious championships.
