New Delhi, November 6, 2025 — Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has stated that India’s roadmap to becoming a developed nation by 2047—Viksit Bharat—was set in motion in 2014, marking a pivotal shift in the country’s economic and governance trajectory.
Speaking at a national policy forum, the minister emphasized that key reforms initiated over the past decade have laid the foundation for long-term growth, resilience, and self-reliance. She highlighted structural changes in taxation, digital infrastructure, financial inclusion, and manufacturing as critical milestones in this transformation.
Sitharaman noted that the government’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 is anchored in inclusive development, innovation, and global competitiveness. She underscored the importance of sustained policy continuity, youth empowerment, and private sector participation in achieving the nation’s developmental goals.
The minister also pointed to India’s rising global stature and economic performance as indicators of progress, reaffirming the government’s commitment to building a prosperous, equitable, and future-ready nation by its centenary of independence.
