Mumbai, Dec 02: An IndiGo flight (6E-1234) made an emergency landing at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday after the crew received a threatening message referring to a “human bomb” on board. The aircraft, which was flying from Delhi to Mumbai, landed safely, and all passengers were immediately evacuated as per security protocol.
According to airport officials, the pilot informed Air Traffic Control about the warning shortly before descent, prompting authorities to activate a full emergency response. CISF personnel, bomb detection and disposal teams, and Mumbai Police rushed to the spot and began a thorough inspection of the aircraft and passenger belongings.
Security agencies said that all passengers were screened, and the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay for detailed checks. As of now, no explosive device has been found, but officials confirmed that the message was treated as a serious threat until investigations are complete.
IndiGo issued a brief statement confirming the emergency landing and said passenger safety remains its highest priority. The airline thanked the crew for their swift action and the airport authorities for coordinating a seamless response.
Mumbai Police have registered a case and are working with central security agencies to trace the origin of the threat. Officials said that the warning could be a hoax, but they are not ruling out any possibility until all security checks and forensic analyses are concluded.
Normal operations at the airport remained unaffected, although security was temporarily heightened as a precautionary measure.
