The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Space Applications Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to strengthen collaboration in space-based defence applications.
The agreement aims to enhance the integration of advanced space technologies into India’s defence operations, focusing on navigation, communication, surveillance, and disaster management support. Officials stated that the partnership will help leverage ISRO’s expertise in satellite systems and applications for strategic defence requirements.
Through this MoU, IDS and SAC will jointly work on developing innovative solutions that improve operational readiness and situational awareness for the armed forces. The collaboration is expected to boost India’s capabilities in space-based monitoring and secure communication networks.
Defence authorities emphasized that the initiative reflects India’s commitment to harnessing indigenous technology for national security. The partnership also aligns with the government’s vision of greater synergy between defence and space research institutions.
