The Israeli government has released and deported a group of flotilla activists who attempted to breach the naval blockade of Gaza, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The activists, part of an international flotilla, were intercepted by Israeli naval forces while sailing towards Gaza in defiance of the blockade imposed for security reasons.
Authorities stated that the activists were taken into custody, questioned, and subsequently deported to their countries of origin after legal and security procedures were completed.
Israel reiterated that the naval blockade remains in place to prevent weapons smuggling into Gaza, stressing that humanitarian aid continues to be allowed through designated channels.
The flotilla incident drew criticism from pro-Palestinian groups, who argued that the blockade restricts essential supplies and violates international norms.
Officials emphasized that while Israel respects the right to protest, attempts to breach the blockade will not be tolerated, citing national security concerns.
