Israeli forces have killed Hussein Mahmoud Marshad al-Jawhari, a senior commander in Iran’s Quds Force, during a targeted strike in northeast Lebanon. The operation was jointly conducted by the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet, with a drone strike hitting al-Jawhari’s vehicle near the Syrian border.
According to Israeli officials, al-Jawhari was a top commander in Unit 840, the operations wing of the Quds Force, responsible for advancing terrorist plots against Israel in the Syria–Lebanon arena. The IDF released footage of the strike, framing the action as a defensive measure against imminent threats.
Lebanese reports confirmed that two people were killed in the attack, including al-Jawhari. The strike took place in a sensitive border region, raising concerns about further escalation between Israel and Iran-backed groups operating in Lebanon and Syria.
Al-Jawhari’s death marks a significant blow to Iran’s Quds Force, which has long been accused of directing and supporting militant operations against Israel. His role in Unit 840 made him a key figure in coordinating cross-border attacks and strengthening Iran’s regional influence.
The incident underscores the ongoing shadow conflict between Israel and Iran, fought through proxy forces and targeted strikes across Lebanon and Syria. International observers warn that the killing of such a senior commander could trigger retaliation and heighten instability in the region.
