External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev in Sofia to discuss strengthening the India–Bulgaria strategic partnership.
The talks focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, defence, technology, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, space, tourism, and creative industries. Both leaders agreed to refashion ties into a contemporary, forward-looking relationship aligned with shared political outlooks.
Dr. Jaishankar highlighted the importance of the recently concluded India–EU Free Trade Agreement, Security & Defence Partnership, and Mobility Framework, noting that these agreements can transform cooperation with Bulgaria as an EU member state.
Global issues such as supply chain resilience, maritime security, energy and food security, and fertiliser availability were also discussed. India reiterated its stance that “this is not an era of war,” stressing dialogue, diplomacy, and zero tolerance against terrorism.
As part of his visit, Dr. Jaishankar toured the National Historical Museum in Sofia, underscoring the cultural dimension of India–Bulgaria ties and the importance of people-to-people exchanges.
