Security forces on Monday continued search-and-cordon operations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district under the ongoing anti-terror operation codenamed ‘Op Trashi-I’. The operation is being carried out in forested and mountainous areas following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the region.
Joint teams of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and paramilitary forces have intensified searches in multiple locations, sealing off suspected hideouts and movement routes. Additional forces have been deployed to prevent militants from escaping the cordon.
Officials said the operation was launched after intelligence inputs indicated terrorist activity in the area. Troops are conducting systematic searches of dense forests and remote villages, while maintaining strict vigilance along key access points.
Security agencies are also engaging with local residents to gather information and ensure civilian safety during the operation. Authorities have urged people to cooperate with the forces and report any suspicious activity.
The Kishtwar region has witnessed several anti-terror operations in recent years due to its challenging terrain and dense forest cover. Security forces said the operation will continue until the area is fully sanitised.
