Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has strongly criticised the detention of an Arunachal woman at Shanghai airport, describing the incident as “unacceptable” and “deeply disturbing.” Expressing serious concern over the way the woman was treated, Khandu said no Indian citizen should face such harassment while travelling abroad. He urged the central government to take up the matter immediately with the Chinese authorities and ensure that the issue is addressed without delay.
Khandu said the state government is in touch with relevant agencies to gather complete details about the incident. He added that every possible support is being extended to the woman and her family while efforts continue to secure clarity on why she was detained. The Chief Minister called for a transparent explanation from the Chinese side and stressed that the safety and dignity of Indian citizens abroad must remain a priority.
