Eight soldiers of the Indian Army sustained injuries during a fierce gunfight with terrorists in the forested Sonnar area of Kishtwar district, Jammu & Kashmir. The encounter, which began on Sunday evening under “Operation Trashi-I,” involved heavy exchange of fire and grenade attacks.
Officials confirmed that most of the soldiers suffered splinter injuries from a grenade blast. All injured personnel were evacuated to medical facilities and are reported to be stable. Security forces have cordoned off the area and resumed combing operations with reinforcements, drones, and sniffer dogs to track down the hiding terrorists.
The prolonged gunfight highlights the challenges of counter-terrorism operations in the Chenab valley region, where dense forests and difficult terrain complicate search efforts. Authorities have urged residents to remain indoors as operations continue.
