Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today launched the Swachh Yatra IEC Campaign and a series of Eco-Interventions to ensure a clean, sustainable, and spiritually enriching experience for devotees during the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026. The initiative emphasizes sanitation, waste management, and awareness drives along the pilgrimage route, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to environmental stewardship and public health.
Speaking at the launch, LG Sinha highlighted that the campaign is not only about maintaining hygiene but also about fostering a collective responsibility among yatris, service providers, and local communities. He noted that eco-friendly interventions, including waste segregation units, bio-toilets, and awareness kiosks, will be deployed across transit camps and base stations to safeguard the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.
The IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) campaign will engage pilgrims through interactive sessions, posters, and digital outreach, encouraging them to adopt sustainable practices during the yatra. The LG reiterated that the sanctity of the pilgrimage is deeply tied to preserving nature, and the administration is determined to make the journey both spiritually fulfilling and environmentally responsible.
Officials from Rural Sanitation, Tourism, and Shrine Board departments were present at the event, underscoring the multi-agency collaboration behind the campaign. The initiative is expected to set a new benchmark in eco-conscious pilgrimage management, aligning with the broader vision of a cleaner, greener Jammu & Kashmir.
