Mumbai Indians opened their account in IPL 2026 with a convincing victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the second match of the season at Wankhede Stadium. The home side delivered a strong all-round performance to secure the win in front of a packed crowd.

Mumbai’s bowlers, backed by sharp fielding, tightened control in the final overs to seal the victory. The win gave Mumbai Indians early momentum in the tournament and boosted confidence at their home ground.
For Kolkata Knight Riders, the defeat highlighted areas needing improvement, particularly in batting depth and consistency. The team will look to regroup quickly as the season progresses.
The result places Mumbai Indians among the early winners of IPL 2026, while Kolkata Knight Riders face the challenge of bouncing back in their upcoming fixtures.
