National Conference president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday strongly condemned the terror attack on a mosque in Pakistan, describing it as a “crime against humanity” and an assault on the very essence of human values.
Expressing deep shock and sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, Dr Abdullah said such acts of violence have no place in any society and cannot be justified under any circumstances. He stressed that targeting worshippers at a place of prayer reflects the extreme brutality and inhuman nature of terrorism.
Dr Abdullah conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack. He said terrorism, regardless of where it occurs, poses a serious threat to peace, stability and coexistence.
Calling for a united stand against terrorism, he urged the global community to work collectively to eliminate extremist violence and ensure that perpetrators of such crimes are brought to justice.
The former Chief Minister reiterated that violence in the name of religion only spreads fear and suffering, and emphasised the need to promote dialogue, tolerance and mutual respect to counter the ideology of hate.
