The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted a suspected transnational drug network and seized narcotics worth around Rs 15 crore. Four Nigerian nationals were arrested in connection with the operation.
The seized substances included more than 14 kg of amphetamine, around 67 kg of pseudoephedrine, as well as quantities of cocaine and heroin. Officials said the operation targeted a network allegedly involving foreign nationals who had overstayed their visas in India.
The NCB has launched a further investigation to identify other people linked to the network and trace the wider supply chain.
In a related development, the NCB, along with state and Union Territory police forces and immigration authorities, is planning a nationwide fortnight-long campaign called ‘Trinetra’. The campaign will focus on identifying foreign nationals staying illegally in India who are suspected of involvement in drug trafficking.
