Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that India has achieved record exports worth USD 860 billion in the financial year 2025-26, surpassing the previous year’s USD 825 billion. The milestone reflects a 4.2 percent growth despite global headwinds, with services exports emerging as the primary driver at USD 418 billion.
Merchandise exports stood at USD 441.8 billion, while imports surged to nearly USD 970 billion, widening the trade deficit to USD 119.3 billion. Petroleum, engineering goods, and IT services were key contributors to the growth. Goyal hailed the achievement as a matter of national pride and highlighted that nine new trade agreements are expected to further boost India’s export performance.
The record achievement underscores India’s resilience in global trade, even as challenges such as rising imports and geopolitical uncertainties continue to shape the economic outlook.
