Seychelles, Jun 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Seychelles on a three-day State Visit, aimed at strengthening India’s strategic partnership with the island nation and enhancing cooperation in maritime security, climate resilience, and development initiatives.
Modi was received with ceremonial honors in Victoria, where he is scheduled to hold talks with President Wavel Ramkalawan. Discussions will focus on expanding defence collaboration, renewable energy projects, and India’s support for Seychelles’ blue economy initiatives.
Officials said the visit will also include the signing of key agreements on capacity building, infrastructure development, and cultural exchanges. Modi is expected to inaugurate India-assisted projects and interact with the Indian diaspora community in Seychelles.
The State Visit underscores India’s commitment to deepening ties with Indian Ocean nations, reinforcing its vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region). It comes at a time when maritime cooperation and regional stability are central to India’s foreign policy outreach.
Modi’s engagements in Seychelles are expected to further cement bilateral relations, while highlighting India’s role as a trusted partner in the Indian Ocean region.
