Srinagar, November 21 — The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) has strongly condemned reports of harassment faced by Kashmiri residents and students in Himachal Pradesh, calling the incidents unacceptable and urging authorities to ensure their safety and dignity.
In a statement, AIP leaders said that Kashmiris living outside the Valley should not be subjected to intimidation or discrimination, and emphasised that such actions undermine the spirit of national unity. The party demanded immediate intervention by the Himachal Pradesh government to investigate the incidents and take strict action against those responsible.
AIP reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the rights of Kashmiris across India and appealed to civil society groups to raise their voice against harassment and support affected individuals. The party also urged central authorities to issue clear directives ensuring protection of Kashmiri students and professionals in other states.
The condemnation comes amid growing concerns over the treatment of Kashmiris in different parts of the country, with AIP stressing that equal respect and security must be guaranteed to all citizens regardless of region or background.
