New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that six Indian nationals have lost their lives in separate incidents across West Asia amid the ongoing conflict. One more Indian remains missing.
According to the MEA, the fatalities occurred in “various incidents” including missile and drone strikes in Saudi Arabia and attacks on industrial areas in the Gulf. The latest casualty was reported in Riyadh on March 18, 2026.
Indian missions in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar are coordinating with local authorities to repatriate the mortal remains and provide assistance to affected families. Safety advisories have been issued for the nearly 10 million Indians living in the region.
The conflict has intensified with repeated strikes on civilian and industrial zones, raising concerns for expatriate workers. While flights from the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have resumed, the government has urged citizens to remain vigilant and avoid high-risk areas.
“We are in close touch with local governments and our missions are extending all possible support,” the MEA said, adding that helplines have been activated for stranded or affected Indians.
The deaths highlight the vulnerability of Indian workers in conflict zones and the challenges of ensuring their safety amid escalating violence. Diplomatic efforts are underway to safeguard Indian interests while maintaining ties with Gulf nations.
