Russia’s overnight strike on Ukraine’s Kyiv region has killed two civilians, according to local authorities, marking the first fatalities in the capital area this year.
One person was reported dead in Kyiv city and another in the nearby town of Fastiv, while several homes and a medical facility sustained damage during the attacks.
Emergency services confirmed that at least one woman was injured and 25 residents were evacuated from affected areas following the strikes.
The assault triggered a nationwide air alert, underscoring the continued threat posed by Russian missile and drone attacks despite ongoing international efforts to broker peace.
Officials noted that the strikes targeted both residential and infrastructure sites, intensifying concerns over civilian safety and humanitarian conditions in the region.
