The President of the US-India Business Council (USIBC) has called on India and the United States to expedite the finalisation of their long-pending trade agreement, stressing that such a move would significantly enhance bilateral economic integration. Speaking at a recent industry forum, the USIBC President highlighted that both nations stand to benefit from greater market access, reduced trade barriers, and strengthened investment flows.
According to the council, the agreement has been under discussion for several years, with negotiations covering key areas such as tariffs, digital trade, intellectual property rights, and regulatory standards. The USIBC President emphasized that resolving these issues would not only boost trade volumes but also create new opportunities for businesses in sectors ranging from technology and manufacturing to agriculture and services.
Officials noted that the trade pact is expected to serve as a cornerstone for deepening strategic and economic ties between the two democracies. Industry leaders have expressed optimism that the agreement will provide a framework for sustainable growth, innovation, and job creation across both economies.
The USIBC President concluded that finalising the trade agreement would send a strong signal of commitment to global investors, reinforcing the India-US partnership as a driver of stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
