Twin Falls, Idaho: Three people were killed and seven others injured, some critically, after a shooting at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, southern Idaho, on Saturday afternoon, according to a city spokesman.
Police responding to the shooting found the suspected gunman dead in an area near the restaurant, Twin Falls city public information officer Josh Palmer said. Authorities had not immediately confirmed whether the suspected shooter was included in the reported death toll.
The shooting occurred at around 2 p.m. at a busy shopping plaza where hundreds of people were in the area. The newly opened restaurant became the scene of a chaotic emergency as customers and workers attempted to flee the area following the gunfire.
Some of the seven injured people were reported to be in critical condition. Authorities were working to notify relatives before releasing the names, ages or other personal details of those killed or wounded.
Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said investigators were working to establish the identity of the shooter and determine a possible motive. Police also interviewed witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities said the threat to the community had ended following the incident, but the investigation remained active. Police continued processing the scene and gathering evidence while investigators worked to establish the precise sequence of events.
